The Casa Alegre de Sagrera was built at the beginning of the 19th century by the Sagrera family. When factory owner Francesc Alegre
married Mercedes de Sagrera, heiress of the Sagrera family, he began to remodel the family residence. This renovation, performed in
1911, completely transformed the building, which presents an eclectic modernist style. Melcior Vinyals was the architect.

Inside the house there are fascinating decorative motifs, such as the murals by Joaquim Vancells and Pere Viver, the cabinetwork, and
especially that of the main stairway, the leaded stained glass windows of the dining room and the wrought iron gallery with lead crystal
windows, and the sculptural relieves on the columns of the salon, where the Sagrera family's activities are displayed: agriculture, trade
and textiles.
